Jaci Pohl

Branch Manager,
Trius Federal Credit Union

Jaci Pohl is Branch Manager at Trius Federal Credit Union in Kearney.  Growing up in the small, central Nebraska town of Scotia, Jaci fell in love with music, dance, and theatre under the direction of her father, Mel Shoemaker.  After graduating from UNK, she continued to enjoy dance through choreographing musicals at Kearney High School.  Working with these high school students is where Jaci found her passion for working with youth.  She became a TeamMates mentor 14 years ago and now serves on the Kearney TeamMates Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Kearney Family YMCA, Grant Coordinator for Kearney Elks Lodge #984, and teaches Junior Achievement.  Jaci wants to thank her biggest fans (and toughest judges) her husband Dave, and her 6-year-old twin daughters Dylan and Sydney for their support.

What experience do you have dancing: I started dancing and flipping through the living room when I was a kid. I was a cheerleader and in show choir in high school and member of the UNK Nebraskats Show Choir in college. My Dad, Mel Shoemaker, was the Theatre teacher at Kearney High School and he allowed me to choreograph his musicals for many years. All that said, I would not call myself a “dancer”, rather an entertainer who loves music.”

Words to describe what you look like when you dance:People might describe me as a little too loud and a little too enthusiastic. My dancing can be described the same way.

Favorite dance style: “I love it all. If you’ll teach me, I’ll try it!”

Least favorite dance style: “I haven’t found one yet!”

Go-to dance move: I do a really terrible running man, but I can stop myself…it always shows up as part of my ‘moves’.”

Favorite memory of dancing: At our wedding during the cheesy snowball dance, it was amazing having everyone we love dancing at the same time. The dance floor wasn’t big enough so people were dancing between the tables. It was a hoot!”

Personal goal for KDWTS:There are so many Kearney kids who need a caring adult to listen and to be a friend. TeamMates mentors dedicate time to do just that.  Through Kearney Dancing with the Stars, my goal is to inspire adults to invest in one child for one hour one day a week to encourage them to reach their full potential. I want people to know that they would be a great mentor!

Why fans should vote for you: A vote for me is a vote to fight bullying. A vote for me is a vote to prevent suicide. A vote for me is a vote to build strong, confident teens who have hope for the future. A vote for me is a vote for kids.
