Professor Bohaty is originally from Nebraska and has taught dance for more than 15 years, including a year-long residency with middle and high-school students from across Nebraska at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. She holds a master of fine arts from Ohio State University with an emphasis in choreography and performance. Bohaty has performed in numerous dance productions and she often choreographs for the Lofte Community Theatre in Weeping Water. Her motto is “Life is messy. Art-making finds the beauty in the mess. What you can’t speak, you sing. What you can’t sing, you dance.”
When did you first get involved in dance? “As a dancing monkey in Pinewood Bowl’s production of Wizard of Oz.”
Favorite memory of dancing: “Certainly one of the most memorable was the time I performed Cha Cha in Grease, outdoors, with a live tornado on the horizon.”
Memorable dance achievement: “Surviving my master’s program!”
Favorite dance style or step: “Modern/contemporary… or as my Dad calls it ‘rolling around on the floor’.”
